چکیده

In this paper we demonstrate a spatio-temporal gene regulatory network for early gastrulation in the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis. We measure gene expression during early gastrulation using a gene expression quantification tool. We measure gene expression during early gastrulation when the embryo is more or less radial symmetrical and where there is only one body axis (the aboral oral body axis in the case of Nematostella), allowing us, to use a one-dimensional model. The shape changes are induced by mechanical forces that are defined as rules or explicitly coupled to genetic regulation. The morphological evolution of the Nematostella embryo during gastrulation is described by a cellbased model, which can potentially be coupled with the one-dimensional gene regulatory network.

Biology meets physics: Reductionism and multi-scale modeling of morphogenesis.

A common reductionist assumption is that macro-scale behaviors can be described "bottom-up" if only sufficient details about lower-scale processes are available. The view that an "ideal" or "fundamental" physics would be sufficient to explain all macro-scale phenomena has been met with criticism from philosophers of biology. Specifically, scholars have pointed to the impossibility of deducing b...

The role of psychosocial factors in social anxiety: A structural equation modeling approach

Social anxiety disorder is one of the most common psychological disorders. The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships between psychosocial factors affecting social anxiety in which elements such as authoritarian parenting, emotion regulation, anxiety sensitivity, behavioral avoidance, perceived social support, and rumination examined. The present study was correla...

Predicting Young’s Modulus of Aggregated Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Polymer

Prediction of mechanical properties of carbon nanotube-based composite is one of the important issues which should be addressed reasonably. A proper modeling approach is a multi-scale technique starting from nano scale and lasting to macro scale passing in-between scales of micro and meso. The main goal of this research is to develop a multi-scale modeling approach to extract mechanical propert...
